Mid-Winter Retreat

We are pleased to welcome Bishop Mike Girlinghouse and Dr. Dan Bell as our presenters for our 2012 Mid-Winter Staff Retreat.

Bishop Mike Girlinghouse will be speaking to us on Monday night about the future of campus ministry as we tend to the relationships between synods and campus ministry sites.

Dr. Dan Bell, Theological Ethics professor at Lutheran Theological Southern Seminary in Columbia, SC, will join us to both help us identify the challenges and changes we face. He will lead us into questions such as ...How do we faithfully engage the institutions of higher learning we've each been called to serve? How do we inhabit the varied lives of a generation given the formidable barriers set in place by a broader culture, by privatized family systems, by social media, and most surprisingly of all by "church?" What gifts, disciplines, practices, and theological resources does God continue to extend to a Lutheran campus ministry presence that will empower both student leaders and campus pastors to graciously vault over these barriers? When you come to the Region 3 & 4 Mid-Winter Retreat, you will participate in a lively conversation that will wrestle with these very questions, as well as, discern ways God is equipping us to navigate them as we seek to engage the institution of higher learning - the students, the faculty, and the staff.

The deadline for early registration is January 15, 2012 and is $50. After that date, registration is $75.
